We finally got the rest of the photos from our trip to Germany posted. Check them out on Flickr.
Maggi (real name: Markus) and Jaggi (real name: Jaqueline) Grander’s church wedding was the main reason we chose to take our vacation to Germany. They had their civil wedding 2 years ago when we still lived in Reit im Winkl. (It is amazing how much has changed for us in 2 years!) The wedding was a beautiful, all day affair. The ceremony was at 2pm and we didn’t leave the reception until after midnight.
Joe, Brigitte and Daniel are also our good friends from Reit im Winkl. Joe is an American and Daniel was in Cami’s class. They were an amazing gift that God had waiting for us when we moved there. Who would have guessed that there would be a first grader in a village with a population of 3500 that spoke fluent English and German. Brigitte was also a blessing to me (DeAnn) because she had lived in the US for 10 years and knew what it was like to live overseas.
On our last day we went up to Winklmoos to watch the Dirdl Dreh’n and Schuhplatt’n. It was great to see so many familiar faces. There was also great Bavarian food. It is amazing how the girls can keep turning and turning and not fall over (although a couple of the younger ones did.) The dancers are wearing the traditional costumes from the region.
